Hydroponic Training Program
September 12, 2022

The first day of training was conducted at Bale Lettuce, a pioneer of hydroponic farming on the island of Lombok. Then our participants were introduced to the concept of environmentally friendly regenerative agriculture. After that, we involved all participants in making hydroponic installations using the NFT method, the Dutch Bucket System, and the Floating Raft System.

On the second day we invited all participants to learn how to structure an organization and be professional in running a system. After that, we invited all participants for a discussion with chef Mamiko at Ashtari to provide knowledge about the quality of food ingredients that are in demand by restaurants.

On the last day we invited particpants to think critically about developing a follow-up plan that they would work on together with their group at the end of this training.

Participants was dominated by women from Sengkol, Setanggor, Ubung and surrounding areas. All participants were very enthusiastic and ready to start a new business in order to make the environment healthy, empowered, and prosperous.

This hydroponic training was attended by 120 participants from villages in the southern region of Central Lombok. The southern region of Lombok is known for its tropical climate conditions, and in this training session they were encouraged to learn the optimal technique in carrying out hydroponic farming in the area where they live. All participants are very grateful to Gugah Nurani, Indonesia and IIF for fostering them in this program.
